[Review] Illamasqua Freak Perfume

So today I thought i'd write up my thoughts on Illamasqua's first perfume, Freak.

The Illamasqua website describes this scent as a 'concoction of dangerously exotic unconventional flowers that Illamasqua has unashamedly blended together to celebrate the night.'

So here's a look at the bottle. It's a slanted, sleek and interesting shape. Nestled in the box against a back drop of a full silver moon. It's quite blocky, but really easy to pick up and hold. I find some perfumes are a little difficult to grasp but this fits in your hand nicely. 

Inside the box, is a little insert card that describes the the different elements that have blended together to create the Freak scent. I think this is quite a nice little touch, as i've never had another perfume that comes with a card that helps you identify the blend at work. It's even nicer when you consider some of the scents are poisons, or rare blooming flowers.

TOP NOTES
Black Davana, Opium Flower and Belladonna bewitch the senses into uncontrollable lust and passion.

HEART NOTES
Poison Hemlock, Datura and Queen of the Night blossom, caress and kiss.

BASE NOTES
Aromas of Frankincense, Oud and Myrrh, addictively mesmerises and captures the senses.  *

OVERALL

Illamasqua's Freak is what I personally would consider a more mature scent. But in a good way. Ohhh boy is it in a good way! The unusual elements blended together that I haven't seen anywhere else on the market make for such an intriguing scent. It's dark and mysterious, and in my opinion, kinda sexy.

I find it lasts all day and it sticks well to clothing too if you get it on any. When I first brought a sample back from the counter at Selfridges, and had it in a bag with some clothes, they smelt like that all day. (So ofcourse, I bundled myself up in those because the scent is absolutely beautiful.)

In short, Illamasqua's Freak, is stunning.

 

 And this is my favourite thing. The little silver snail on the edge of the bottle.  Cutie!

And at £59 for a 75ml bottle, it's a bit of a splurge, but so worth it.

There is also a smaller bottle, and a gift set with kohl pencil and nail polish available.
